WHAT WE HOLD
“In essentials, unity. In non-essentials, liberty. In everything, love.”
— St. Augustine
THE APOSTLES CREED
The Apostles’ Creed is the foundational creed of Christian churches including Future Church. It has received this title because of its great antiquity; most of the creed dates from the early 2nd century. The creed was used as a summary of Christian doctrine for baptismal candidates in the churches of Rome.
We believe in God, the Father Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell.
The third day He arose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic (universal) church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.
Nicene Creed
The Nicene Creed, also called the Nicaeno-Constantinopolitan Creed, is a statement of the orthodox faith of the early Christian church in opposition to certain heresies, especially Arianism. These heresies, which disturbed the church during the fourth century, concerned the doctrine of the trinity and of the person of Christ. Both the Greek (Eastern) and the Latin (Western) church held this creed in honor.
We believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, begotten from the Father before all ages, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made; of the same essence as the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven; he became incarnate by the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary, and was made human. He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate; he suffered and was buried. The third day he rose again, according to the Scriptures. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again with glory to judge the living and the dead. His kingdom will never end.
And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life. He proceeds from the Father and the Son, and with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified. He spoke through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church. We affirm one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look forward to the resurrection of the dead, and to life in the world to come. Amen.
GOVERNANCE.
As you consider investing your heart, time, family, and finances into the life of a church, it is important for you to feel confident in church leadership.
Our goal in sharing the details of Future Church’s governance is that you can better understand that our church is structured to support the values of integrity, accountability, and spiritual authority.
We are:
1. Guided by Pastors
The Pastoral Staff team is led by the Lead Pastors.
This team oversees the day-to-day ministry and operations of the church.
These staff pastors serve the congregation and are responsible for the development of the spiritual life of the church.
2. Protected by the Board of Directors
Our Board of Directors oversee the finances and legalities of the church and provide counsel to the Pastoral Leadership Team regarding the major financial commitments of the church.
3. Strengthened by Overseers
The Overseers are pastors of respected congregations and ministries who love Future Church and its Lead Pastors and provide spiritual protection to the church.
They may be called upon to help in accountability matters relating to the Lead Pastor if requested to do so by the Pastoral Staff or Board of Directors.
Chris Mulhare - New Hope Church, Toowoomba.
Chris is currently also the Chairman of the Board of Directors.
4. Accountable to ACC (Australian Christian Churches)
Australian Christian Churches is a movement of Christian churches across Australia.
Each individual church is self-governing but commits itself to working together with other churches in the movement for the purpose of mutual support and the spread of the gospel in Australia and the world.
The ACC provides pastoral credentials, training and accountability to our pastors in Australia and abroad.
5. Regulated by the ACNC (Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission)
The Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission is the regulatory authority for charities and not-for-profit organisations within Australia.
They register and regulate Australia’s charities.
